The grapes all come from vineyards that have been recently purchased by Steffi & Eduard. incredible Rose right here! The flavours are great, but that isn't even the special thing about this wine. Exploding watermelons, fresh cranberry, ripe cucumber, hints of earth, and a herbaceous finish. Next up is arguably the most in-demand of the three, the Rose. This has got summer written all over it!. The wine bursts with fresh sage and stone fruits, like apricots or white peach. The Weiss is a light, vibrant cuvée with a refreshing fizziness at the beginning that slowly disappears once the wine has been left to breathe. Now don't think for a minute these are subpar wines, these are nothing short of bloody spectacular and coming in 1 litre bottles and quite a bit cheaper than the rest of the family are definitely more wallet-friendly ?įirst up is the White, A new family member for Gut Oggau, and oh boy, it is a beauty. These wines are from vines that were recently acquired and up until they got their hands on them weren't farmed in line with the team's biodynamic philosophy ?. If you're wondering why the hell there's a mask on these three beauties, well, it's simple. It is a certified biodynamic estate with each wine coming from a single plot of vines with different terroirs showing different expressions in the wine. The estate is run by Eduard Tscheppe and his wife Stephanie, daughter of a 2 Michelin star restaurant owner. Gut Oggau is a 14-hectare Austrian wine estate located in the province of Burgenland by Lake Neusiedl. With only 15 to 18,000 bottles a year, Gut Oggau’s wines are one of Austria’s most sought-after.It's that time of year again when one of our all-time fave producers Gut Oggau, releases their iconic Maskerade trio ? Each wine is striking as an individual, and together they form a unique wine family. All their wines are vineyard-specific and express both the vine age and character of the terroir. Their aim is to achieve a natural balance in the vineyards and to process the grapes as gently as possible so that the wines can achieve their utmost potential. The estate is run by Stephanie and Eduard Eselböck-Tscheppe, whose focus on quality is a permanent quest. As members of the Demeter Association, they truly understand the significance of biodynamic cultivation. Gut Oggau is a 20-hectare estate located in the small market town of Oggau, on Lake Neusiedl in the Austrian province of Burgenland. As this new vineyard develops, these wines will likely become part of the family but now, they are bottled differently (1 litre) and come in at a great price. The wines are made in the cellar in the same way and do not lack vibrancy, style and freshness as with all the Gut Oggau family. The masked character represents the fact that these vines are not quite ready to be included in the Gut Oggau family as until they were acquired, they haven't been farmed according to the Oggau philosophy of natural production.
